My work in watercolors allows me to create in two distinctly different modes: small, abbreviated sketchbook images and larger, more developed paintings on “good” paper. The first 3 images shown here were done in “sketchbook mode.”
Another sketchbook image – one of the many rusty, vintage tractors found all over this valley.

These last 3 paintings were done with using classic watercolors techniques in a large format. When I’m working in this way, I am usually inspired to create a three part series around a unifying theme.
“Moulin Rouge” – Watercolor and ink image of rusty, vintage neon that once graced the Las Vegas strip back in the day. Second in a series. NFS
“Rusty Vowels “ – Watercolor and ink image of vintage neon Americana. This painting is one of three paying homage to the rusting hulks featured at the Neon Museum in Las Vegas. NFS
“El Cortez” – Watercolor and ink image of yet another leaning, rusty steel behemoth so common back in the hey day of the Vegas Strip. Third in a series NFS
