I started my adventure with Merino wool and fibers making scarves. Wool items I purchased in the stores always irritated my skin. Then I was introduced to Merino Wool. It is so soft and the fibers so thin that like magic, I could wear wool now! It was only natural that scarves were a good place to experience this process called Nuno (Japanese word for cloth) felting. The end result is dazzling!
All my Fiber Art pieces are hand crafted and one of a kind. Wool fibers felted together are very strong and when paired with silk, even stronger. Some scarves have a silk or cotton base with the wool woven into the silk fibers during the Nuno felting process. Other scarves are just the Merino with yarn incorporated into the design to help strengthen the piece.

Scarves
These handcrafted scarves combine silk, gauze, and wool fibers to create a beautiful scarf, great fashion style, and keep you warm at the same time. Silk scarf base colors are dyed using natural coloring — madder root, avocado skins, blueberries, cabbage, beets, etc. Cobweb scarves have no base… the wool binds together with the other wool fibers to create a light, airy, almost see-through piece, like a cobweb. Here are just a few samples…
They look delicate but really are very sturdy.
They do, however, require hand wash care to keep from felting even more…
